Leader's Guide for the Leader/Guide
Understanding the Leader/Guide
A Leader/Guide business Type has been in the Builder phase for a season and has reached the title of VP. They are consistent in both new customer sales, recurring customer sales, and new petPro growth. They’ve probably reached an income level of $1,000+ a month from both sales and team growth and can envision this becoming a more substantial source of income in the future. They may still be working the business as a side gig or part-time business but may have a goal to turn it into a full-time income source.
It’s not uncommon for a consistently growing Builder to need a leader to ask them if they’ve ever considered moving into the Leader/Guide Business Type. They may need encouragement from others before they can see it in themselves.
Guiding the Leader/Guide
The Leader/Guide will benefit from guidance on how to guide other Builders. Their primary need for guidance in their first few weeks is to help them understand how to identify and mentor Builders on their team and also maintain their personal business. This is not the time for a Builder to go into ‘management mode’. It’s vital that they continue to give prioritized time and attention to personal sales and sponsoring.
- Coaching & Accountability Chats: At this stage, check-in chats have progressed to coaching and accountability chats. Work closely with each Leader/Guide to encourage regular chat times and establish the timing that serves you both well.
- Goal Getting Accountability: As a Builder moves into Leader/Guide, it’s a good time to reconnect and get clarity on their income expectations. The reports and widgets in their back office will be an excellent resource for goal setting. Use them to help identify Builders on their team as well as up-and-coming Leaders/Guides. Use your chat times for accountability conversations like:
- Builder List - Who on their team has identified as a Builder? Help guide them with Builder identification conversations as needed.
- 3 or more Level 1 Sellers/Builders - Guide them to continue following the core business steps of a Builder (see Leading the Builder for these steps).
- Title Advancement - Help them use reports to identify those on their team approaching new titles and how to guide them.
- Help with setting realistic income and advancement goals that align with the time and attention they are able to give their business.
- Training: Make sure they know where to find training that’s more relevant to their business type. As a Leader/Guide, they should already be familiar with the Seller and Builder training resources. Now is the time to guide them to next-level training resources:
- Introduction to Guiding and Mentoring the 3 Business Types
- Leading Seller Business Types
- Leading Builder Business Types
- Leading Leader/Guides
- Leader Email
- Leader Facebook Group
- Continue to engage with training from the Marketing Accelerator Training Hub in pTU
- Resources: Be sure they know where to find and use leadership reports:
- Downline Report
- Downline Title Report
- Downline Volume Report
- Community: Your Leader/Guides are most likely already involved in the petPro community. They will benefit from being given some responsibilities to help you engage with your team community.
